BOOSt Project
North Brisbane region QLD
Your story and experiences are really important to help us to better understand the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women birthing in the North Brisbane Region.
We hope that learning from your experiences will help us work with service providers to design and provide maternity care that is better suited to the needs of your community.

BOOSt is a partnership between Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, universities and health professional organisations. We want to hear from and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to design and deliver the best maternity care for the community.

Sophie Hickey
BOOSt Researcher
I am a senior researcher at The Molly Wardaguga Research Centre, Charles Darwin University. I manage large research projects designed to provide feedback to local health services to improve care for First Nations families. I enjoy training and mentoring community researchers and find it really rewarding to see the positive change that can happen when communities are involved in all parts of designing, delivering and evaluating these services.

BOOSt Community Researcher
I'm a proud Arrernte woman born and raised in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). I've been working as a community researcher since 2016 in Meanjin (Brisbane) working with the team at The Molly Wardaguga Research Centre, Charles Darwin University. I am passionate about bringing community voices from the ground to the forefront to ensure that when change is implemented in heath services it is for the benefit and at the request of our mob.
